Sometimes it’s nice to keep things chilled without lugging around a cooler. Cascade’s Cardboard Cooler Boxes ($15) are a new green alternative to the styrofoam options we’ve all used before (which are probably still sitting in mint condition on the garbage heap they were dumped on, right next to the Twinkies). Each box is composed of 70% recycled cardboard and features a NorShield waterproof coating for enhanced durability. On the cooling front, these boxes pretty much match the performance of other disposable coolers and can maintain a temperature of 41° F for 36 hours straight using two bags of ice. Having the french word for cold stamped in giant block letters across the box, unfortunately, won’t help your cool factor at all.

Bugaboo Bee All Black Stroller

Dutch design company Bugaboo expands its All Black Collection with the launch of the Bugaboo Bee All Black. This latest special edition stroller features an exclusive matte black chassis outfitted in black fabric. Compact yet complete, the one-piece foldable design is slim enough to navigate through the tightest of spots yet still accommodate newborns to toddlers. An official release is set for September 2011, priced at $699 USD.  (Hyperbeast)

Designer Richard Clarkson has created a cradle for adults, in collaboration with Grace Emmanual, Brodie Campbell, Jeremy Broker, Eamon Moore, Kahlivia Russell and Joya Boerrigter. "Cradle" is about creating a safe, comfortable and relaxing environment in which the user can dissipate the overstimulation of their senses. The design was heavily directed by a synthesis of research into Autism and children with Rhythmic Movement Disorder (RMD), as well as saftey, sustainability, function and aesthetics. The chair is designed for maximum relaxation, comfort and calmness."

Kickstarter: Quinn Popcorn

Want a crash course on the “miracles” of modern industrial food science? Then take a gander at the ingredients of a bag of big brand microwave popcorn. What seems like a simple process apparently requires a labs worth of chemicals and GMO’s (genetically modified organisms) to flavor, preserve, and pop those gum aggravating kernels into an edible form. The folks at Quinn Popcorn hope to change that. Through their Kickstarter campaign, the fledgling company aims to create a line of gourmet popcorn, that uses natural and tasty ingredients to shake up the snack food world. Since the bag is the scariest component of modern popcorn, Quinn has also developed a so-called Pure Pop Bag, which is made from 100% compostable paper and completely free of PFOAs, PFCS, and even the susceptor (a.k.a. that scary microwave-energy-channeling metallic strip found in typical bags). The result of all that ingenuity is a pure marriage of corn and paper. Natural flavoring and oils are then added on after the fact — giving you a chance to feel like a chef, while avoiding the need for advanced preservatives, cooking agents, and the like. Their proposed first batch of flavors includes interesting combinations like Vermont maple & sea salt, lemon & sea salt, and rosemary & parmesan. Pledging $15 or more will score you an inaugural box of the flavor of your choice, with bigger donations resulting in even more movie grazing goodness.

 The company is located in Massachusetts and one in Canada. Other products they have are travel bags, rain shields, and a cup holder for example. They make a wide variety of handy accessories for the uppa baby stroller line that they produce, and the reliability and dependability of their strollers is what has given them such a good name in the international market.
The three versions is the vista, g-luxe, and g-lite. The VISTA version is used for the child to grow from newborn to toddler stages but done in style. It’s ideal to take the child on the road with this version and the most expensive version of strollers that Uppa Baby has which is $679.99. It comes with a bassinet when you buy this stroller version which the other two doesn’t have that option. Comes with a weather shield and mesh bag. And for the stroller, it is only good for babies from newborn to five months. It comes in six different colors to choose from.
The G-luxe is priced at $159.99 and is lightweight and sleek. It is consider a light umbrella stroller and the child can recline comfortably whether you are on the go or traveling to places. It weighs 11 pounds and it comes in four colors. You can fold it up and it’s easy to carry. It is recommended for babies from at least three months old to when they weigh at 40 pounds. A removable cup holder is optional to use such as when going for walks. It comes with four colors.

SproutBaby Organic Baby Food

I was recently given the opportunity to try SproutBaby Organic baby food.  My son is 15 months and has been on table food for a while now, but I thought since it was organic that we would give it a shot.

We were sent 6 pouches of SproutBaby Organic Baby Food and not only did my 15 month old love it, so did my 3 year old!!  We were sent 6 different flavors including:

• Roasted Apples and Blueberries

A Modern Looking High Chair

The Boon Flair Pedestal Highchair has an unusual design: Its one-piece molded plastic seat sits atop a pedestal instead of on legs. Despite the high price, reviewers give it good marks for its modern looks and easy cleanup. It adjusts easily with a pneumatic foot pedal, but it does lose some points for not offering a recline feature. In the same price range, the Svan (*est. $250) and Stokke Tripp Trapp (*est. $250) are European-designed wooden high chairs with seats that adjust both vertically and horizontally. Most reviewers say you don’t need to spend more than $200 on a highchair. The Fisher-Price Rainforest Healthy Care High Chair (*est. $90) has seven height adjustments, lockable casters and a three-position recline. I have this chair, and its worth the extra coin…..

Steam the Food….

Boil fruits and vegetables in water (separately, of course), or steam them until tender. Tasty ones to start with include apples, pears, carrots, sweet potatoes, squash, green beans, bananas and avocados. (Skip the boiling process on the latter two.)


Allow food to cool a bit before transferring to a grinder, blender or food processor. Puree with a small amount of liquid -- either breast milk or formula. The amount of liquid you add depends on how advanced your little eater is. If you are just starting her on food, the mixture should be very thin. If she has been eating baby food for a while, a pasty consistency should suffice. For more experienced eaters and older babies, small chunks are okay. Start with a small amount of liquid. You can add more, but you can't take it away!
